Aboriginal Rock Art & Culture
North Australian Expeditions has permission to access restricted sites, many seldom seen by anyone except the artists and their families who painted them thousands of years ago. On special interest rock art expeditions we work in conjunction with local Aboriginal people who guide us through their traditional lands offering a more informative and rewarding experience for our clients. Weeks can be spent discovering these ancient sites.

The "Stone Country" is a never ending explorer's paradise with archives of traditional knowledge recording the climatic, social and physical changes that have occurred over many thousands of years. Animals that are now extinct and have been for thousands of years still grace the rock shelters where people once gathered.
In many areas North Australian Expeditions also provide the opportunity to meet up with local artists and Aboriginal-run art centres where you have the opportunity to purchase authentic Aboriginal art direct.
Aboriginal Culture
Cross-cultural experiences are enhanced by spending time 'on country' with traditional owners. Demonstrations of painting, weaving, spear making, bush tucker, hunting and gathering are shared with the visitors to their Communities.
